A standardised rate until the age of 18 makes it possible to insure children and young people privately at a very low cost. Depending on the federal state of residence, the monthly entry-level premium is between €55 and €65 and provides comprehensive insurance and access to private medical services. At the age of 19, the premium is converted to the most affordable adult premium.

Yes, private accident insurance is particularly useful for children. Every year, one in seven children suffers an accident injury that requires medical treatment. The most common types of accidents include falls, poisoning and chemical burns, scalds and burns. Children's accidents also happen primarily in the home or during leisure time. However, statutory health insurance only covers accidents that occur during kindergarten, school and on the way to school, among other things.
