Our accident insurance for dogs comes into play if your dog needs to see a vet due to an accident. 80% of veterinary and surgical costs are covered up to the agreed single event limit.

Accident/health insurance

With our combination package, you can insure your dog against accidents and illnesses. Here too, 80% of veterinary and surgical costs are covered up to the agreed limit per individual event.

When does dog insurance make sense?

Ideally, you should take out dog health insurance when your dog is still a puppy. After all, a dog can fall ill or have an accident at any time. The associated veterinary costs are usually very high. And the younger your four-legged friend is, the cheaper the annual insurance premium will be.

In addition, a dog can also cause damage to third parties, which can result in high claims for damages. Therefore, it is also worthwhile to take out dog liability insurance as early as possible.

Good to know: Dog liability insurance

Liability insurance for dogs is compulsory in most provinces of Austria. Only Burgenland, Carinthia and Vorarlberg are exceptions.

But is liability insurance for dogs really necessary? Yes! Dogs can quickly cause minor and even major damage to third parties. One moment of rough play and your dog has broken someone's glasses or mobile phone.

Property damage, even amounting to millions, can also happen quickly. For example, if your dog runs across the road and a car swerves to avoid it and crashes into the crash barrier. It is therefore worth taking out liability insurance just in case.

How much does dog insurance cost?

Allianz dog insurance costs between €206 and €616 per year. The premium depends on the age of the dog when the insurance is taken out, the package selected and the agreed total annual compensation limit. Costs for dog liability insurance may also be added.

Petplan Plus: Comprehensive cover

Allianz's Petplan Plus ensures your pet's safety when you are unable to do so. If you are temporarily unable to care for your dog due to hospitalisation, Petplan Plus will cover the costs of caring for your dog. In the event of the death of the dog owner, the costs of caring for the dog will be covered up to a one-off amount of €400.

Petplan Plus also provides cover throughout Europe. If something happens to your pet while you are abroad, 70% of the veterinary costs will be covered. The process is the same as in the UK.

No, dog insurance cannot be taken out retroactively.

The contract is valid for one year. The insurance relationship is extended by one year each time unless one of the contracting parties gives written notice of termination at least one month before the end of the contract period.
