Q: What does home insurance cover?

Our home insurance offers you comprehensive cover, as gross negligence is already included as a standard feature in the Basic, Smart and Max packages. In addition, for the Smart and Max packages, you can opt for an optional extension that also covers you for damage caused by simple clumsiness.

Q: Is home insurance compulsory in Austria?

Home insurance is not compulsory in Austria. However, it is highly recommended as it covers damage to your property caused by events such as fire, storms or water leaks. Without insurance, you will usually have to bear these often very high costs yourself. Furthermore, home insurance is often a requirement for banks if the property is to be financed with a mortgage.

Q: Does home insurance cover you if you are at fault?

With Allianz Home Insurance, you can also cover yourself against damage caused by your own negligence under the Smart or Max packages with the optional All-Risk cover. This includes both clumsiness and gross negligence.

Q: What should you do if damage occurs?

Document the damage in full (photos, descriptions, receipts, documents) and keep the damaged items. Report the claim to your insurance company immediately and provide all the information they require. With Allianz, you can report a claim by phone or online. Please follow the insurance company’s procedure, as failure to do so may result in the loss of your right to claim compensation. The insurance company assesses the damage and checks the cover. A quote for the repair will then be provided as soon as possible.

Building-in-progress insurance covers a building under construction against risks such as fire, storm and water damage from the moment construction begins. With Allianz Home Insurance, building-in-progress insurance is included free of charge for up to 24 months.
